With a flutter of chiffon and unabashed glamour, Neeta Lulla whirled into the fashion scene more than two decades ago. Playing effortlessly with colors as the rainbow courts the sunlight on a rainy day, bringing forth the dazzling hues, her creations range from the lily-white salwaar-kameez of Sridevi in Chandni, the shimmering mirror-worked chaniya choli of Aishwarya Rai in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam; the simplicity of Taal, to the vibrant richness of Devdas - Neeta Lulla has accomplished it with great élan.
It was winning the National Award for designing Sridevi's costumes in Yash Chopra's blockbuster film, Lamhe that brought Neeta Lulla into the limelight, transforming her into the most sought after designer in the film industry. Other notable projects like Darr, Aaina, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and others followed. A host of accolades followed over the years for her outstanding contribution to the Indian fashion and film industry with another National Award nod for her stunning costumes for Aishwarya Rai in noted filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bansali's magnum opus, Devdas.
Her latest ventures include Ashutosh Gowarikar's, Jodhaa Akbar,starring Bollywood heavyweights, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai, Hollywood movies such as Mistress of spices, Provoked and One Night with a King, a Gen8 Entertainment production, starring noted actors Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole among others.
Though hailed as the 'Czarina of Indian Fashion' Neeta Lulla is today a force to reckon with in the glamour and modeling industry as well.Expertise, clarity and creativity, humility arising from quiet confidence has earned her both respect and clientele of Bollywood's famous personalities such as Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherjee, Juhi Chawla, Sridevi, Shilpa Shetty, Ameesha Patel, Kareena Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Sushmita Sen just to name a few.
The Neeta Lulla flagship store was launched in Mumbai, India in 2005 to cater to her growing clientele and creative needs. Diffusion, Luxury prêt, trousseau consultancy and bridals is what the Neeta Lulla label caters to. Neeta also heads a firm called NSL Fashions Pvt. Ltd. that deals with exclusive bridals and trousseau packages.
Neeta has done several shows in different parts of the world such as the US, Canada, Monte Carlo, Dubai etc. playing a pivotal part in spreading the glory of Indian fashion with her forte being concept based shows. Her undying love for her work and her immense creativity serves as a motivating factor for many aspiring designers. For her designing is not merely a profession but a fanatical passion.
